Random Flyers

I have a fascination with flyers. It’s a medium that has withstood the test of time even as we have entered the terminally online era. There’s something about seeing a bizarre image out of the corner of your eye that compels you to stop and take a closer look (or maybe its just me). Most of the time it is something pretty mundane: a show or event, a garage sale, or some cool scam. But every once in awhile you find a gem and after collecting for year I’d like to share some of my favorites.

Most recently I texted a number off a flyer, it had a catchy name and promised me a clue. This kicked off me participating in a month long scavenger hunt along with what seems like 100 other people. We’ll see how it ends in few weeks!

I’m not really sure that to make of these but they made me laugh and that has to count for something:

A huge part in the Flyer Meta is the “Meet Other People” genre. Promises of authentic human interactions and a new ways to connect are plentiful.

I call these: “I know I shouldn’t but I really want to find out”

Now for some wholesome neighbor content, first up we have this picture of a boat and a sign saying it floats. While this is not a traditionally flyer per say, it was important for the neighborhood to know that the boat that this man had been building in his garage for so long had made it!

This second wholesome flyer was to announce the return the the pancake guy, who after a brief stint away returned to make more pancakes than ever before.

This was just a taste of what was out there, if keep an eye out you’ll see so much more wacky stuff.

p.s. I have a separate collection of deranged political flyers but that’s for another day.
